EEG appoint new CFO and MD

National Drainage specialists EEG have appointed John Taylor as their new Chief Financial Officer and Michael Patel as their new Managing Director.

John has international finance and board experience as Divisional and latterly Group CFO for a number of UK listed businesses, including Archial Group PLC, Maxima, Alfred McAlpine, Marcus Evans and Callserve Communications.

He is a trained chartered accountant, formally with Deloitte, and an Executive Editor in Leadership and Strategy from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania respectively.

John has sector focus on support services and other services sector high growth businesses, with particular exposure to contract led businesses.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined a forward thinking and dynamic company with amazing and dedicated staff.

“Thanks to Sovereign’s investment, group revenues have already doubled to over £28m through the bolt-on of Future Environmental Solutions and the securing of new contracts.

“I am committed to building the group through organic growth and acquisition, to develop our position as the leading service provider in the sector.”

“His expertise is extremely valuable in a time of change for EEG.”

Michael Patel joins EEG from Enterprise PLC.

Michael has vast experience in the water industry as he has worked his way up the ranks. Michael started out on the tools, soon rising to supervisor and then manager status with Kentons, who were soon to be taken over by Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions.

Michael managed the AMP 4 United Utilities Waste Water Maintenance Contract in the North for 5 years, before being asked by Enterprise PLC to mobilise and run the new AMP 5 contract.

Due to his success in this role, Michael was then asked to go down and mobilise the newly won Severn Trent Water Waste Water Contract, which again he did successfully.

Michael has lots of industry related qualifications of which none are more important to him than his NEBOSH health and safety.

Michael takes over the role of Managing Director of EEG Solutions based in Preston, and with depots also located at Chesterfield and Birmingham.

Michael said: “I came to EEG as I wanted to take on the challenges associated with a growth company, and hope that my experience of working for large organisations will help to meet the challenges ahead.”
